Does anyone know if there are any way of recycling batteries (not car batteries, just ordinary small appliance batteries) in the South East (England)?

As far as I know, there isn't anywhere in the UK where you can recycle batteries. Hopefully someone can me I'm wrong! I wrote to my local council regarding this issue but it won't come as a surprise to hear that they never got back to me.

Thank you for your message.  I have a friend who goes to France on holidays and takes a year's worth of batteries with her to recycle threre.  Unfortunately I don't go to France!  No doubt it will come here too.
