Only had it since mid Feb and was just wondering if it should only make noises when it is providing hot tap water or heating radiators or is it normal to make noises at other times....this is first time with a combi boiler.
If you've only had it since mid-feb and is a new one, you must have warranty cover on it for servicing etc........why not just ring up your supply company and ask them for an engineer to visit and assess the problem......it may be something very simple, but might be a fault that need to be rectified, but i would'nt risk it with boilers and always have a bit of caution with them.
Some boiler manufacturers now incorporate a device that ensures that the pump runs for approximately 10 to 20 seconds every 24 hours. This is to lessen the chances of the pump " sticking ".
Check the users handbook, or contact your installer to verify if this is the case with your perticular model.
If it turns out that this is not the problem, inform your installer, as it could be a problem with the boiler. or frost stat setting.
Always been a sucker for fluttering eyelashes.
its probably the pre-heat function, basically the boiler fires every so often to keep the heat exchanger warm so that when you do open a hot tap the water gets hot quicker than it would otherwise.
read your manual to see if it does have a pre-heat and if it does you can normally switch the function off if it is annoying you or if you want to save money on your gas bill.
