We have got seagulls nesting on our chimney flue. We dont know if there are eggs of chicks in the nest but there are two bloody great gulls ! We contacted the council but they dont deal with gulls, do had to get someone private costing £175 plus VAT. They have remove the gulls and nest and then put stainless steel spikes around the area to stop them nesting again. Stainless steel as it wont rust ! Does anyone think this is expensive ?

Almost certainly the ones nesting would have been Herring Gulls and they are a pest as they scavenge everything.
Once the chicks had hatched they would have been dive bombing you so you are well rid.

Thanks. We are having them removed next week. Hopefully for good !
they will probaly just come back and use the spikes as a nest base, i have about 4 nesting pairs around my flat and every night i consider taking the fine to eradicate them all.
