We rescued a 7 yr old Labrador bitch last year and she has just come into her first season with us.

We have a light beige carpet and obviously she is staining it with blood spots. Can anyone suggest a cleaning agent to remove said stains completely and also safe to the dog if she licks any new stains after treating the previou stains.

Gratefully

vanish carpet shampoo will remove the stains.you can buy it in a spray or in a powder form,,which you mix to a cream,,have you thought of having the dog spayed as its too old to breed from and this problem will never go away..also you will be carrying the scent on you when you leave the home and you will have all the male dogs following you or hanging around..if a male dog gets a whiff of the scent they can get very aggressive,,you dont say where you rescued it from but normall charitys that rehome dogs will get them spayed and they would help to cover the cost..the pdsa would definately help you out..or wherever you got the dog from..you will need to shampoo the carpet and possibly try to keep the dog in a bed with a washable cover,,you can buy sprays from the pet shop to mask the odour but your best long term solution is to get the dog spayed..
I use Vanish Powershot & there's another one I've just discovered by Bissel (got it from the pet shop) that is very good (It's a mousse with a brush thing on the end of the can)

I would much recommend you getting your dog spayed (or sprayed) as this will help avoid any further complications later in the dogs life - My mum and dad have a lab' and they did not get her spayed and when she was 11 she got an infection in her womb and the vet fees was 300. The vet stated that she got this infection as she had not been spayed.

Also, this would help you getting dirty carpets and save you cleaning them. (also its more hygenic).

I think it costs about 80 to get your dog spayed however, if you're on benefits you pay 10. Ask at your local PDSA.

Kind regards
Katherine
