hi, i have inherited an 1890 sewing machin, i would so like it to go to a museum or somewhere of that description, does anyone know an orginisation/museum who would want this and take care of it. hoping for some help. thank you.allgram.
Hate to disappoint you but old sewing machines are not yet that uncommon. They were sturdily made and, because expensive, well taken care of so you may not find any takers. Do you have a local museum? Your library would probably know
They have literally hundreds of old sewing machines at the Science Museum stores. As Woofgang says, they were so well built that they have survived beyond all expectations.
Do you know someone who sews? Old machines are not dependent on electricity, and might be useful in a power cut!
Why don't you stick it on a more quality online market site like AdMarket.co.uk with a couple of pictures and see what kind of interest you receive. But as said above, there are a few of these around.
