I have a 7ft Christmas treet planted in the front garden - it was here when we moved in. I have no idea how to care for it and wonder if it should be pruned

Depending on the actual variety, now is the best time to prune evergreens, since they are dormant.  A particular process should be used, however, not general "shearing".  Check here for more information for your type of tree... Good luck!

Hi Ruthiek,

Great site from Clanad.  It would be important to know just which type of evergreen tree you have so you can prune it properly.  Take a look at this site to see if you can id your tree.

This site on pruning has some pictures that should be helpful.
