Where can I buy a sheet of stainless steel 9ft by 2ft to be used as a kitchen backsplash.

Try looking in your Yellow Pages under Stainless Steel Stockholders. It will be miles cheaper to buy it at trade price than order it from a shop.

I think you'll struggle to get the 9 ft length, most sheets are either 8ft x 4 ft (Imperial) or 2.5 m x 1.25 m (Metric).

2.5 m is about 8 ft 2 in.

Look for 'Sheet Metal' in your Yellow Pages, on the Internet - do some ringing around. I had to find some 16 gauge steel plate to seal a flue recently - this method worked a treat. 

Found a local supplier who cut it to size. He stocked all manner of sheet metal including what you require and in the sizes you require. Very cheap too.
