my fella's having a go at tiling the bathroom, im doing his head in with my nit picking (typical woman)...anyway just wondered shoulld the tiles be flush with the ceiling or can the grout fill that gap in? or does the grout only go in between the tiles? thanks julie
I started at the edge of the bath, to give a clean line there, and worked up. Depending on the size of the gap at the ceiling, you can cut a sliver of tile to fit - then grout in between the tiles.
the gap is only about half of a centimetre so dont think a slither of tile would go in. The ceiling is beige, the tiles are beigy coloured marble...he is going to use brown grout and wreckons that the small gap will look good filled in with the grout to....i just cant imagine it looking right and darent say another word to him arrhhhh else he'll abandon the job altogether
If it's only 5mm, grout or silicon will cover it.
If you don't like the result, put decorative trim strip round the top.
It's best to plan the vertical spacing so that you don't end up with a full tile at the top leaving a gap that is wider than the grout line - it's better to cut the top tiles to fit to the ceiling leaving a grout line width - but not flush to the ceiling.
Has he finished it? My husband started our bathroom end of May - done some tiling and today he's taken the old bath out and put the new one in - they get very grumpy if you say anything to them dont they?!!!! :)
