Sometimes when I wash my towels in the washing machine, even at 60 degrees, they have an unclean smell, and they don't even smell of the conditioner. Why doesn't the conditioner smell stay on clothes every time, when they have been washed ? I sometimes have to put extra conditioner in the machine and do a rinse and spin.
Quite right, bednobs. Fabric conditioner works by coating fibres with a slightly greasy layer which makes the fabric less absorbant - just what you don't want for towels.
yes, very true, I bought some lovely egyptian cotton towels, and I hated them! they didn't absorb anything, after a bath, I just couldn't get dry, then I read the labels! They said 'do not use fabric conditioner' they're fine now!.............
