Do you have junk and hoards of stuff that you would like to get rid of but think twice because they are all good, or would you just declutter, trying it out now!

Bit of each really. My touchstone is if you got rid of it would you buy it again? if not out it goes.
I put some clothes into a charity bag and put it in the spare room, I have been back once to retrieve a cardigan from it. I'll have to put it out next time.

I have curtains stored away that I keep going back to!
There is no greater pleasure than finding a use for something you hoarded years ago .
There is no greater frustration than needing something you threw out last week.
If you have room for the 'junk' why not keep it.
I am a huge huge hoarder, I haev a housefull from when I lived on my own. OH isn't so has been very tolerant. We took the step of hiring a self-storage unit earlier this year so loads of stuff is up there at the moment, while we try to see the wood for the trees here. A lot of the stuff I really don't want any longer is going on eBay, it is paying some of the bills - and ever so slowly my mind is getting clearer. You have to want to do it, and it is so daunting - it sometimes takes a third party to get involved as an incentive.
my mantra is
1) do i use it?
2) do i love it?
if the answer is no, out it goes
Get rid of unused items. They are a burden on your head. Declutter and yoy will feel free.
sell it on ebay....one mans junk is another mans treasure
then spend the money on something you need
My wife keeps tons of absolute junk because it once belonged to some distant reative she hasn't seen for 40 years or it's for Brownies, it's like living in aunty wainwrights shop but we never sell anything just collect!! It's tremendously annoying and i empathise with you OH. If you're paying to store stuff you never use just sell it and spend the money on something you relly need or give it to a charity and do some good with it.
There is a problem getting rid of something that is in perfect condition but because of health and safety regulations you can't give it away. I have some upholstered chairs in brand new condition
but I can't dispose of them because they have to have fire resistant labels on them . There are many organisations appealing for goods but when you ring them up they require safety certificates for just about everything apart from clothing. So it's not easy to declutter .
One thing you can guarantee is that if an item has been lying about doing nothing in the garage for 10 years, the day after you get rid of it you discover it's just what you need for that urgent job thats cropped up.
Offer unwanted stuff on web site like your local Freecycle, that way you get rid of what you do not want, and someone else has what they need.
