Cleaning vertical blinds??

Would anyone happen to have any ideas on how to clean some VERY dirty vertical blinds. My sister just got the keys to her new house and the previous owners have left the blinds in the living room and kitchen, but I'm presuming the previous owners were VERY heavy smokers, as the blinds are yellow!! Would be great to get them back to the off-white that they used to be, and save some pennies! Thanks for any advise offered.

If you can manage to take them down put them in the bath over night with some Biological washing powder.

I think its just the usual polyester/cotton stuff. Nothing fancy!

We had the same problem and I thought nothing ventured.... so I took the 'slats' off the rail, rolled them up and put them in a pillow case. I put them on a cool wash in the machine then hung them on the line. Can't say they're spotless but much better than before. After all that Mr M saw an advert and they weren't too expensive to replace.

wash in machine and hang back up to dry in the window with the wieghts in so they dont shrink
