What is the best way to dispose of old, but still good TV sets, if you have no longer any use for them? I have three in very good condition after buying flat screen ones and they`re too good to scrap down the local corparation tip.

Why not try posting them on your local freecycle, or freegle group? I'm sure someone would snap them up, and it would save you that trip to the tip.
we have a local organisation who collect servicable furniture etc, refurbish it if necessary and sell it to raise money for local charities, the only proviso with electrical stuff is that they must see it working before they take it. Perhaps if you ask round you'll find somethimg similar
I had a 10 year old Sony 40 inch rear projector non digtial T.V that had never let me down, it was, worthless, it was (as you say too good to waste) so I gave it to a friend's brother.
I set it up for him and got it going with the Freeview etc, and he forced a tenner into my hand.
When we were trying to get rid of our old (but working well) telly, we called several charity organisations, but none of them was interested. And even if they were, we couldn't arrange a suitable appointment for them to come and collect it. In the end, we just phoned the local council and arranged for a bulky waste collection. Or we could have taken them to the local council disposal site.
We have a British Heart Foundation shop, a St Martin's Emmaus, and a YMCA charity shop which will take old tvs and other electrical appliances for resale.
Freecycle is good for most things but I've found people are quite fussy about TVs and monitors. No one wants a CRT screen it seems, even for free. It doesn't cost anything to place an ad there though so worth a try.
You must have a icky freecycle group. We were inundated with requests for our old crt tv.
When I put my CRT on freecycle 6 months ago I had about 15 people after it
As others said there are still people who can't afford flat screen and they would be happy to grab these ones. After all they still work and to expand the possibilities all you need is freeview box.
