changing door locks

I'd like to change the locks on my front door myself, but don't have a clue where to start!!! Where would i buy the new lock from, and what type of lock would i need to get for a upvc door which i think has a five point locking system? Thankyou xxx

Probably a standard Euro Lock ........... check this out :o)

When you say ... locks... do you mean the multi point lock, or just the cylinder.
If it's a euro cylinder it's a really simple DIY job.. The Builder has got it covered with the video.
At work ... if I'm not available they call a locksmith to do the job.We are usually charged about £100-120 to change a cylinder. That gives you a good reason to do it yourself.
When I do them it takes less than a minute to complete, I pay around £15 for the replacement cylinder.
The multi point lock that fits on the edge of the door ( with the bolts, hooks or mushrooms) is fairly easy to change by undoing all the self tappers and removing the whole lock system ... I would advise against it though unless you can identify the locking system .... There are hundreds of them.

I just want to change the part where you put the key really, think someone has been coming into the flat as there's been some strange things going on, and at least 4 people have had the opportunity to make a copy of the key at some point. Ow i don't no what to do now, do you think i'll be charged more if i try doing it, mess it up then call someone out?
