Tumble Dryer Hose

Needing some advice re the above - my old hose had seen better days so I purchased a new one - thought it would be really simple to switch them over - how wrong was I.

It says universal hose on the packaging but I cannot get it to fit onto my drier - any suggestions???

Our tumble drier hose is a spiral metal tube covered in a sort of plastic fabric. It's quite a job getting the hose over the outlet and I think I had to bend the wire spiral out a bit.
