I've just moved into a house and I noticed there was some ants in the kitchen, I sprayed them all and they pretty much dissappeared, next thing I notice
flies started to appear at the same time as the ants coming back, they seem to be coming from around the skirting board and I'm not sure the best way to get rid of them, I keep spraying them and they dissapear for a couple of weeks and wake up one morning and there's loads of the flies although they don't actually fly!

Sounds like flying ants, they hatch in the nest and then all come out at the same time ready to go off and start another nest. They should disappear in the winter if that's any consolation!

That's what I was thinking but I'd never seen them before so wasn't sure, well that makes me feel slightly better that I haven't got maggots somewhere!!
The last few weeks have certainly been flying ant time - ant powder is good.
Nippon ... They carry it to the nest, as food.
Agree with albags, but put Nippon on a non-absorbent piece of material and watch them crowd around it to feed, and you will soon be rid of them.
