we got ours done by Anglian. At the time (not sure if still true) they didn't have bulders, they had approved partners who came and made the hole and did any reinforcing etc. A good professional job. We wanted to keep the bricks as they are not standard pattern so they cleaned them up and stacked them as they took them out.
WE have just had patio doors by Anglian and a good professional; job. Takes about 6 weeks as doors are made to measure not squeezed into the hole as some cheaper ones are. Has anti-lift incorporated which makes it a bit securer. One thing don't accept first price as they will come down, we waited 5 days and they called back with a better price.
I'd buy them on-line and pay the day rate for a builder. Window and bedroom fitters etc really p!ss me off as they all try it on with the price.
I arranged for a quote for a canopy to run the length of my house and the original quote was over £3000..............after a lot of phone calls I beat them down to £1800 and they still made a profit.
If I want a job doing now I always buy the product and get the builder in at £100 a day.
