Painting a ceiling in a stair well?

How do I paint a ceiling in a stair well myself? is there a particular type of ladder that works and could stop me doing myself an injury?

you can hire a stair platform from hire shops or get a roller on a stick

How high is this stairwell? If it's a short fall take a chance otherwise hire someone.
You'd still have to pay rental on the stair platform.

Yes. A three way ladder. I did mine myself with one of those.

I usually use a small extension ladder put on 1 stair and lean it into the stairwell wall, a pair of steps at the top of the stairs on the landing and a scaffold plank in between the 2. If the stairwell is wide just slide the 2 across partway through, works a treat.
