i drained the central heating system in my former home , which is vacant and for sale . I am having a problem lighting the pilot light after refilling the system . I can hear the gas coming, from the jet but it will not ignite electronically or with a naked flame. Any advise would be appreciated. .
If the boiler has been unused for a long period, it is possible that a certain amount of air will have found it's way into the pilot supply pipe. Just persevere as you are doing, and the gas will eventually push the air out.
Hope this helps.

All good answers there what I would have said. Also if you have turned off the main gas supply to the house, light the cooker, if its gas to help purge any air that may be stopping pilot lighting
