Removing a double glazing window...

Has anyone got any idea how easy and how much it will cost to remove a double glazed window? We need to get some furniture in but the doors are too small.

Also, when you use a removal company is it them that remove windows for furniture that don't fit or do you need to get a specialist?

Removal men will not normal remove windows to get furniture in. You also need to check that they are prepared to get the furniture in to your house this way, as it will presumably involve more of a lift than carrying through a door.
Speak to the removal company and get a quote from your local window fitter.

I'm not actually moving...lol. I was just trying to think of ways to get it done instead of it being put off week after week.

I was thinking it might be easier to hire a removals firm to move it from one room to another if they could also take the window out.

These are big pieces of furniture and when I originally got them it was obvious that you needed a fair bit of skill to move furniture.

At the moment it's all sitting in the out house.... :-(

Not sure the cost of putting a new window in again afterwards though.

Double glazed windows can be taken out though. You remove the beading and take out the glass. Just don't know how easy it is...or how much it will cost.

It is very easy ummmm.
The cost will be labour. I could take out a upvc window in about 1/2 hour (the only reason it would take 1/2 half hour is because I would have to take care not to damage it). Then I/2 hour to replace the window. Of course payment depends on how long you have the workman hanging about.

Cutting away the mastic is the hardest job, but any fairly proficient DIYer should be able to do it.

do you mean remove the window or the glass inside the window frame which is easier and less trouble.in this house my chippy mate removed the rubber, then went outside removed the beading by snapping it back and then the glass ( this is a 11 year old window), we passed in a 3 piece windows back all in less than 15 minutes
when we replaced the 3 piece it took me 40 minutes, well my first attempt.
you will be surprised how easy it is, then you realisle burgulars probably know all this

my daughter had a new suite deliered last week to her new flat by my ex hubby in his van and he had to take out the front window and replace it, he cut the seal out with a stanley knife and the frame came out apaprently and he put it back in again and it rook minutes.

Some years ago I was walking past a house with a bit of a crowd outside. Including a beat bobbie.
Being nosey I asked what was going off. The neighbour had noticed a burst pipe in the kitchen, the owners of the house were away.
The copper was going to smash the window to gain access ( the neighbour had agreed to make the house secure) I took a look at the window and it was the same as yours. I gained access in a couple of minutes. The neighbours face went ashen.

lol, I presumed you meant the whole window ummmm.
It is a ten minute job if you are just removing the glass.

all windows were externaly beaded to begin with Docspock.

lol, platsic beading ummmm. A very sharp chisel is the best thing to remove the beading. Plce it between the hairline gap were the bead meets the window, then take a blunt chisel and tap the bead inwards. It should then come out.

How long have you had the windows ummm?
you may be able to still purchase the bead in case you damage it.

Start in the middle of the longest bead ummmm, in case the bead is scribed and not mitred. When you have the first one out, take the others out by starting in the corner.

Thanks for the instructions. I won't be attempting it though....my middle name is 'clumsy'

I'll show him and he can decide if he can rope a friend in to do it...or get someone in.
