energy saving bulbs...

I have a lovely chrome & white banker's lamp - I want the lowest wattage possible - at present I have an energy saving bulb in it - 5 watts. Is this the lowest wattage I can get, in energy saving versions?

... and, don't they sell or make those 'soft tone' bulbs any more? The ordinary type of bulbs, but in a softer hue of either peach, pink or cream? I can't seem to get one anywhere.

5 watts will run for 200hours for aprox 10 p
how much do you want to save?

It's actually got nothing to do with saving money jack - though thanks for your reply. It is more to do with the 'brightness' (or dullness in this case) of the light emitted. I only want a very soft focus rather than bright light.

you sure its 5watts ?? that cant be bright sally maybe 15watts but 5 ??

At 5 watts, I wouldn't bother fitting a bulb. It will be just about pitch black.

Spray it with a heat resistant spray of your choice, available from car accesories shops.

have you a clas olsen store or ikea in your area they have wide range of bulbs (lit) its just the fitting that may be a problem

But not a bulb that meets both criteria.

Its 5 watts in the energy saving thingies - which I think is equivalent to a 50w normal bulb.

Thanks chuck - the warm white one is just what I want - but at £16 per bulb? me thinks maybe not :-(

You could always use an incandescent bulb and fit an in-line dimmer in the cable to give you whatever level of brightness you choose.
