Ants won't eat your plants unless you're in the tropics, are you sure it wasn't slugs. How did the cats help?
Question Author
didnt see any slugs but neighbouring cats use my garden ,go to shoo them away ,but look at me and come back 'as much to say i was here before you .cant hurt them though
scatter prickly twigs around to deter the cats and put down slug traps....bet you will find they are the guilty parties.... grow your seedlings on in starter plugs and harden off really well so there is less soft sappy growth to tempt our little mollusc buddies
I find a blast with a hose deters cats.
Also blasts fragile seedlings to a green mush SB
Bury the cats up to their neck in sand and let the ants eat those instead ... job done.
you might find that it is mice eating your seedlings - I had all my nasturtiums nibbled away last spring - try setting some traps.
sure to be slugs eating your plants, you never see them eating them, but they do love young plants.........
haven't had my nasturtiums nibbled for a few years..............
