The date today is 12 March 2005 and my location is in the Phoenix AZ area.

I have an in ground planted Bougainvilla which is about 4 years old.

The plant has just started blooming and there are many branches that are bare or only have greenery at the bottom of the branch.

I was not able to prune the plant last fall and my question now is can I selectively prune back some of the branches as it is quite rangy looking in some outer areas of the plant.

Thank You for your consideration.

I am not a gardener and I hate gardening but I also have a bougainvilla and I ignore it and it grows everywhere like mad.  I live in Spain so its quite hot in summer and I don't even water it (water here is very expensive and metered) and it thrives. Good luck
