What is the best way to pack linen trousers for a long haul flight? Going on a cruise - no iron in the room and not allow to take an iron (health and safety ... plus they want you to pay for an ironing service..). Should I roll them, pack with tissue paper, or what ?

I`m not sure about linen but my mother always packs everything with tissue paper and it comes out as good as new. A good way to get creases out of clothes in hotels rooms is to hand them in the bathroom when you have a shower. The steam smoothes them out.
*hang*
i'd take a travel iron anyway
I'd avoid linen tbh..its going to be a nightmare.
fold them as if you were going to iron them and roll the legs around a cardboard roll very tightly wrap the roll in a few layers of tissue...
Could you not smuggle a travel iron on board, or do they search your case? Failing that you could swallow the iron, and if questioned you could say you needed iron in your diet!
linen looks like it's not been ironed after you've had it on 5 minutes anyway so i wouldn't worry. personally, i'd just fold them the way you would if they weren't linen and hang them up when you unpack. i've lots of linen summer clothes and never re-iron any of it.
hope you enjoy your cruise, where are you going? never been on one myself.

Caribbean, hence the linen. I don't do formal so its black linen trousers for me in the evening (or white) and linen capri pants during the day - at my age I don't do shorts either. And plenty of Fit flops. Thanks for your help everyone, I think hanging in the shower would be good. (not me, the linen). I might take a chance and pack the iron, they do scan the suitcases, they even look in your shopping bags when you come back after being on shore for the day, no spirits allowed on board ... only their own !
I would iron them, and seal them folded in a plastic zippy bag, then they won't move around and get creased, (my daughter is a travel agent, and does lots of long haul trips, she packs all of her clothes this way and it really does work!) and on arrival in your cabin, hang them near the shower, the steam should help, and as you said, after 5 minutes of wear, they will be creased anyway, that's linen trousers, they are cool and comfy, so don't worry about it, they'll be fine!

Thanks welsh, and all of you :)
well I have taken severalk pairs of linen trousers with me to several Caribean destinations and they always unpacl still lovely ansd flat as I iron them then put them in the case and make sure the securing straps on the inside of the case are tightly clipped together, they are elastic and hold everything welkl in place once packed, But i always take my travel iron anyway. But aas you can't, just make sure they are well packed and have plenty of flat items below and on top of them,
What about a travel steamer (not iron) for your clothes, then you would have no problems at al.
roll them and there is always an iron on board
The best way to pack things is apparently to roll t hem up rather than fold. It avoids creases and saves space.
Oh hello weas. Great minds think alike the same time apparently.
hello loffty lottie< do you cruise?
No weas, never had the inclination to cruise, but at one time in my life all I seemed to do was pack!! I became an expert!!

Bit out of practice these days!!

I can't understand how rolling stops items from creasing ! I suppose it must work though .. I have heard of this before.
