What do you call the black stuff that appears on the sealant around the bath and on some of the grouting and is it dangerous to health?
I've tried spraying it with bleach and mildew remover, but it just doesn't come off.

I've got a spray mould remover (Lidl) which does work - but it needs leaving for at least three hours to work properly and you may need a few treatments for best results.
id just try to replace it, and keep on top of the regular bleaching

I can't understand how it happens as I clean the bath every day even though I only usually take a shower. Is it called mould and can it harm your health do you know?
i dont think so, i thinks its just dicolouration of the rubber...which is why it wont wipe off...normal mould etc will wipe away

i added bleach to my wallpaper paste...just a touch...never had mpuld since in 10 years

maybe see if you can add some to the grout and sealant when you replace?
It is commonly called mould and can occur anywhere that gets damp regularly (and usually in darker places). If you tried to remove it physically by scraping it while dry and inhaled the dust in, you wouldn't be too happy!!
i dont get mould round my shower because each time i finish i rinse everywhere in the shower and curtain with clear water from the shower head, and my shower curtain i bough years ago still like new is mould proof apparently .it was expensive as shower curtains go but was worth the money

Thanks for all your answers. I'm wondering if it's because there is no window in my bathroom. Where ever I've lived before I've always opened the window after a shower. The shower curtain is fine and I wash that quite often, it's just the sealant and some of the grout which is just above the bath. Are those grout pens any good for covering the black?
No, if you cover it up, it will just appear again. It needs KILLING, since it's alive- in the same way as a plant is alive.
Dettol spray for mould etc is excellent
If you leave the door open and if poss blow air into the bathroom with a fan for circulation, should help.
