What is the best (ie the easiest, half-ar$ed) way to clean the oven and the shelves. Haven't got space for my dish washer here so looking for other solutions. Thanks.

True, ladybirder - they do an amazing job, but it is quite a lot of money! Worth it for a once in a while thorough clean, but if you cook a lot, you probably need to do it more regularly...

Clean it every week
That's why I don't do it. Scary stuff.
Elvis, is that a statement or an instruction?

I'm not cleaning it every week, I'd rather leave it and buy a new cooker when we leave the house!
abers get " oven cleaners " in ? £50.!
You are right blackqui but I can't cope with dirty ovens I might look for the Oven Mate you mentioned.
It's Oven Pride gran. I think you'll be impressed.
Oven Pride, Gran. Catching my dementia??
lol at ayg .
Both, mrs chappie ;o)
Yeah my cooker looked like new when done.
I even brought some for my friend and she sings it's praises too.
Gran, the cheapest I've seen it is at Home Bargains. Do you have a local one?
a local what mrs c ? :)
No don't have one here, Wilkinsons/Asda/Lidl and Aldi a few miles away. Apologies blackie I was on page 2 of this thread and would have lost my typed answer if I'd gone back to page 1 to check on your name and the name of the oven cleaner. (lazy).
:o)
just buy some of that oven lining stuff on a roll and cover the bottom of the oven with it then you can pull it out and throw it away when it's covered in burnt bits. that's as far as my oven cleaning goes....
My oven came with a label that said 'self cleaning' so I have taken that as understood.
That only means you end up cleaning it yourself, Mamya!!
That sounds good, mamya - like the self defrosting freezer. I like it!
here are my top tips
1) stop caring about it - works wonders
2) get a cleaner
3) get someone else to do it
4) do a labour excgange (ie "i'll baby sit your kids for the afternoon if you'll come round and clean my oven")
5) if none of the above suit get a new oven
