Dulux
Dulux is an internationally recognised brand of paint. This paint is used in homes across the UK everyday; it is a trusted brand that everyone has heard of. Other brands from the company that makes Dulux include Cuprinol for wood care, Glidden for trade paint, Polycell for predecorative products and Hammerite for metal care.
People have been decorating their dwellings for over 40,000 years and Dulux is the culmination of much research and experimentation that is still going on today. The brand name Dulux has been used since 1931 and was one of the first alkyd-based paints. This meant that the paint dried much quicker to a ‘tougher’ surface.
The Old English Sheepdog is the brand mascot for Dulux paint. The dog was first introduced in advertising campaigns in the 1960s. Since then they have been a constant and highly popular feature of Dulux television and print adverts wherever the paint is sold. So much so, that many people in those markets refer to the breed as a 'Dulux dog' rather than a Sheepdog.
The company that now manufactures Dulux is Akzo-Nobel, a well established name in industry. Their products can be found everywhere from the Beijing Olympic arenas and Sydney Harbor Bridge. With more than 250 years of experience the company pioneered industrial-scale chemical manufacture in the 19th century.
