Is it an easy job to disconnect a Rangemanster Cooker? I could sell it if it's just a case of unplugging it. Thanks.

Well it seems they make gas and electric cookers, and some do both, so I assume this is an electric only cooker.

An electric cooker does not just plug into the mains with a normal 13A plug, in fact an electric cooker should have its own cable to the fuse box and its own fuse.

The cable coming out the back of the cooker will connect into some sort of junction box behind the cooker.

If you are going to disconnect it TURN THE MAINS SUPPLY OFF FIRST.
As for gas, I'd suspect it would depend on the type of connection. No expert but I understand some just push fit so presumably are easy to work out how to disconnect. Other connector types may need a professional.

Thanks guys. It's electric, but it sounds more bother than it's worth. I think I'll just leave it where it is.
It will probably be hard wired into a spur. An electricial could disconnect it, no problem.
Sorry, meant electrician
If not feeling confident maybe best to call in the expert, but it isn't a difficult job.

· Turn off power to cooker at fusebox.

· Unscrew front of cooker junction box, where lead goes.

· Use neon screwdriver to CAREFULLY check red or brown wire no longer lights up neon when tip is placed on it (AND NOT SHORTING OUT TO ELSEWHERE) and you have finger on OTHER END of screwdriver. (You can use a meter if you have one and know how to use it.)

· Having assured yourself all is well so far, unscrew the cable, preferably not shorting out anything as you go, and remove cooker lead.

· Screw junction box back up again.

· Job done. Fuse box to cooker may as well be left off as there is no cooker connected any more.
