in simple therms please!
a descriptive word.
noun - naming word.....verb - doing word,.....adjective - describing word does that help?
boiling water. boiling is an adjective
it describes or qualifies a noun e.g
a BLUE book
a LOUD noise
'A noun is a name or a place or a thing, Archibald, Caroline, London, bird, wing', a verb is a doing word and an adjective is a describing word.

Ahhhh, I have it now, thanks x
Adjectives...good, blue, beautiful...usually describes a noun....good boy, blue coat, beautiful house....
And the next stage is adverbs. The adjective modifies the noun and the adverb modifies the verb, like she walks quickly. quickly is the adverb.

Thanks Daisy x
How are your adverbs?

I can't cope with participles.............
Your other posts are written in excellent English, Allovera, so maybe it's not something you need to worry too much about.
A Noun is a Name - A Name is a Noun.

An Adjective is a Describing word... You have got a beautiful smile.

Allovera, dont give up three quarters of the way through. You understand noun. chair table etc. you got to grips with adjective GREEN chair HARD table. Now you have verbs talk walk run etc. and the last one (I promise (kind of)) is adverbs. talk SLOWLY, run QUICKLY..... If you give up now you are on detention!
Question Author
Thanks Factor30. I don't worry about my posts or how I post on the net, it's just all these adjectives and how I use them.

I'm getting too much info here, it's really all appreciated, so stop it now!
adverbs are a bit more complicated than just describing verbs. They can also grade adjectives like 'really big'. and describe time or place. downstairs and yesterday for example.
