Is there a website/address for the benefit offices. Where you can e mail and ask questions. I have had the most dreadful time recently trying to get them on the phone. I called them last week, and that phone call will have cost a fortune, and now the same today. Options 1,2,3 etc, and then just hang on forever.

no landline, they have an 0845 number, and the message says if you are not a BT customer then calls will be charged according to your provider.
And besides i tried from this afternoon, and spent an hour trying to get someone to answer the phone. And the same early part of this evening.
well i've given you a list of addresses, and there are phones inside you can use for free!

they will usually only *see* you in person with an appt at the centre though! so expect to still have to phone!

Cath, thanks, not looking for a job, but help from the benefits agency. The one i was told to contact, you have to go through that phone number first and then they transfer you to correct dept, because they don't have a direct line. But it's getting someone to answer the phone, to ask the questions in the first place.
if you know someone's name, you can email them, ie; [email protected]
(apologies to any John Smiths out there)

sara, no sorry, they don't give out names, policy apparently, and they have put me in a very awkward position, and been trying to sort this out since last week on and off.

there's an 0800 number under B for Benefits here.

I could only suggest calling in to a local Jobcentre otherwise. there are landline numbers for each office, if you want to say where you are.
Question Author
sara thank you, the person who eventually answered the phone, after i hung on for 35 minutes, said he would e mail someone to call me monday, but that's what the woman i spoke with lunchtime also said but no one did. And so more anxiety over the weekend. If not will have to find a local jobcentre and see what i can find out from there.
Good luck em

Seems like a frustrating business - watch your BP!

Zeuhl, BP gone through the roof, it's incredibly costly, and we have just had last bill in and three quid for two calls, both to same agency, so they may be local calls, but because of the time you hang on, its a small fortune. Todays nightmare will be the same i'm sure.
