Hi, I've got a new can of graffiti remover spray which has 300ml written on it. It doesn't seem that full to me, like it's been used a bit. On my digital scales it weighs 200g. I just want to know if I've been ripped off.
I've heard that 1ml is equivalent to 1gram but only if the liquid is water.
Does anyone know how much this can of graffiti remover spray should weigh in grams.
Thanks.
The 'propellant' the stuff that makes the liquid spray out of the can is a gas (Nitrogen) under pressure , this has a density of a lot less than 1gr/cc so the weight of the can does not directly compare to the weight of the contents.
If you read the small print the 300ml is probably the volume of the can not the amount of content.
Yes, 1gr water is 1ml. Most liquids are pretty close to that. I presume the chemical and propellant is in liquid form so the can's content should weight about 300gr. plus the container.

For a gas it sounds reasonable to me. If in doubt go back to the shop and ask them to weigh a few other cans just to make sure yours isn't significantly under weight.
A lot of aerosols are a rip-off really.
Buy standard pump-jet if possible (like de-icers for car)
(or graffiti remover available in a few places in tins for manually applying)
Beside the point but what is Graffiti remover ?
Graffiti can be anything - emulsion paint, gloss paint, pen , pencil, ink, chalk, dye, or a combination of these and more, nothing I know of removes all of them .
1 to 5 of 5
