I bought a few GLS? bulbs ( as they were 100W) but when I looked at them it said 'Rough Service Lamp' and for industrial use only. Had I better just get rid of them then, they look just like ordinary bulbs to me.What damage might I do if I put one in an ordinary table lamp? TIA rosy

I can't see that any harm would occur if you use these.
RS bulbs........... I didn't know you could still get them. No problem at all. Just a tougher filament I think....... intended for inspection lamps that you carry around.

Thank you both for replying, I will try them, shame to throw them out, but I knew I could depend on AB :o) Yes Builder, 29p (I think) in Home Bargains!rosy
Yes .. They are for garage inspection lamps, etc.
Use them!
They have a thicker filament to make them more robust. Slightly less light output than from a normal bulb, but a small enough difference that you probably won't notice. They should last longer, too. 29p? I'm off to Home Bargains first thing tomorrow! ;-)
