Sim card tray won't open

The sim card tray won't open on my iPhone 3G, even when I insert the clip as normal. It just pops up very very slightly, but not enough to get a hold of to pull it out.

Do you know what else I can try and what the problem might be?

The whole SIM Card Tray actually comes right out, not just the SIM Card.
You may have to use tweezers to grip the tray after using the paper clip to eject the tray.
