As others have said, when using a combi boiler – if you want a really hot bath, allow the initial cold water to run through. With a little practice, you should be able to set the bath fill rate at the optimum – giving a very hot bath without the boiler cutting out due to the water getting too hot. Another tip you may find useful is to sit in the bath as it fills – you will find that you can stand a much higher initial water temperature this way and thereby avoid the need to top up with hot water.
If I allow the initial cold water to run through – and then have the hot tap fully open, the bath water will be too hot to allow you to step in (that is the advantage of a powerful combi).
But even I cannot have a long soak, and then top up the bath water without the initial cold water coming through.
