I notice that most phone apps require you to grant them permissions for
access to your phone. Are these permissions safe to give and are they acted upon
by the app companies?

I only just got it, I don't think I have anti virus. It's a Galaxy Ace S5430 or something like that. Does AVG do anti virus for phones I wonder? I am not using it fully yet and don't have it with me now to check. I just thought it strange to allow some random company to access such private details.

go to the android market and download Anti Virus protection, plenty there including AVG. Ive just done the same for my Galaxy Note.

Yeah, thanks Ratter, but what I really wish to know is how much of these permissionsare acted upon and are we giving permission to allow these companies to take our information covertly?

I admit that I don't actually check the permissions but I haven't had a problem with android in the last two years ive used it, I think Google would not allow apps that were malicious.

Thanks I will have a read through that. As it mentions at the top of that article, I was looking at an app that give you a torch function on your phone and I was asking myself why does that app need access to my conta numbers etc?
