night storage heating sockets

im having central heating installed to replace my night storage heaters and was wondering if i could use the heater sockets for normal 1 gang electrical sockets?

I do as well. But the chances are that they're not on your ring main. That being the case, they will still be live when the ring main fuse is taken out. Might be an idea to mark the sockets and put a note in the fuse box so that anybody doing electrical work in the future will know of the potential risk.

Nothing wrong with having sockets on radial circuits. It's quite the norm in many parts of the world. Not every country uses "ring" wiring.
Some off-peak systems use two meters.......... one standard rate, one off-peak (with time-clock). If you have this, then the off-peak meter will have to be taken out and the "tails" from the O/P meter would be connected to the standard meter.
If your set-up is on one meter only (ie the whole house goes over to cheap rate for periods) then you won't have to do that.

I had storage heaters and later got central heating.

I got the electric company to change the storage heater fuse box to normal socket use and have used them for 10 years now.
