If you are talking about a 'real' tattoo with needles jabbing ink into your skin, then no, they dont 'fade'. You can have them removed but it costs a lot of money and hurts a lot ! (from experience!!!) my advice as a tattoo'd person. DONT DO IT!
Skin graft, laser treatment, sorry Melissa, hope your tattoo's a good one.....

Tattoo's will generally fade slightly over time, especially coloured ones, but they don't disappear as such.

It is possible to get tattoo's where the needle (in theory) isn't pressed as deeply into the skin and it then fades after a period of time ( 3 - 5 years). This however, is risky as if the tattooist goes too deeply into the skin, it may be permanent. Even worse, the tattooist goes to deep in some places resuting in parts of the design fading and parts not. If you want something temporarily, go for a Henna tattoo.

I have two tattoo's - I regret neither of them, but mine are not in day to day visible places. My advice would be if you're not sure, don't do it. Removing them is possible but it is also costly and not guarenteed to work.

My sister has a 'temporary Tattoo' and the latest theory is that they were wrong and it won't fade away after all (this was always a risk).

My personal advice is if your hoping it will fade don't get one. I have 2 at present and want more, but wouldn't get any in a place which can't be covered easily by clothes.
