I buy quite a bit from ebay but have only ever sold a couple of things so not very experienced at listing stuff. For the first time I am listing as Collect Only but at Stage 5 it keeps asking me how much the postage is and won't let me proceed. Obviously if the buyer is collecting it's free but it's not giving me that option. Is it because I'm doing the shorter version rather than the longer version? Or if it's not that has anyone any idea what I'm doing wrong? Thanks. I'm losing my cool with this, thought it would take 10 minutes max. Daren't tell you how long I've been trying.

When you get to the bit that says DOMESTIC POSTAGE, in the box, is says FLAT: same cost to all buyers and it is a drop down box, drop it down and select NO POSTAGE: Collection in person only.
or, instead of using the quick sale option use the advanced option and it wipes the quick ale boxes for the next time you use them

Oh dear, the winner, it doesn't say Domestic Postage in any box???? I just don't see that option.

Dotty, if I change to the longer version now will I lose all the info I have already input?
switch with the link top right,
OK ladybirder, no dramas, look through your listing and get past the following details. You have your title, condition of item, add a picture, describe your item, how much you want, duration of listing, how you want to be paid - this I think you've done and everything is OK to this point.

Next, I think you are here.
Give the buyer the P & P details. (am I correct?)
If so, there is an option next to the title that says ADD OR REMOVE OPTIONS, click on this, which will give you further options, and you should get an option to click a radio button that says COLLECTION IN PERSON.
ps don't forget to click on SAVE.
When you get to 'postage ' there is a drop down to click.where it says select postage one of the options is 'no postage pick up only' unless you click that first it will assume you have forgotten to select a postage option and keep reminding you. If you are doing collect only you are losing a lot of bidders as most people will not live near to collect, unless the item is very heavy or fragile you will always get a far better price and a lot more sales if you offer postage.

Well I am a nervous gibbering wreck. Had to walk away at one point I was so frustrated. Went up onto our roof terrace to cool down but it was so hot up there I came back down and had another go.
Thank you to all who responded and tried to help me. Winner I couldn't get the boxes you spoke of until I eventually got out of the short listing and followed dotty's instructions to go to the longer ones. But then time and time again it kept going to the sign in page when I was already signed in and when I signed in again it went back to the sign in page over and over. In the end I changed from Safari to Firefox and eventually got there but never again. Half the time the site wasn't responding. Perhaps it's because it's free listings today and there's loads using it. Phew, where's the corkscrew? I'm shattered. Oh and have one on me dotty, winner and eddie. X
I can get all the options, whether using quick sell or advanced. It's a pity I can't copy and paste what I see so I could show you. If you do manage to find the part that tells you to give the P & P details, let us know and we will give it another shot.
It is immediately after the section that asks you how you want to be paid, ie by paypal, credit card, etc. etc.

Thanks winner, but as I said i did get there in the end but now need a little lie down:-)
Much easier to Buy than to Sell.
Good luck with your listing.
well done ladybirder - it IS easy, it's a shame your first attempt has proved difficult. TBH I sell all the time and it's never been a problem switching between the options to get the "collect only" option - perhaps the difficulty related to the problem with your browser.

Better luck next time :-)

Thanks boxy. I'm reasonable happy with it except for I tried to opt for the no credit cards etc option but it wouldn't respond so I had no choice but to leave it. I also wanted to put no returns and again that option wouldn't respond. I feel as if I don't want to go there again; it took me FIVE hours in total including the short break for a nervous breakdown, it fought me all the way. I thought it might be Safari that was the problem but I haven't had a problem before. What a waste of a rare sunny afternoon.
It doesn't sound right, LB - i can click on those options very easily.

I only accept payment by PayPal, personal cheque or in person - I don't know how people pay you by credit card, except into your PayPal account, I certainly wouldn't give anyone but PayPal my personal banking details!

Now you've got the listing up and running, you just might want to go back to it and click "Revise", and see if you can make the changes so it's as you want it. That won't affect the item details, but I don't understand why the site's not let you make the selections you want.

You can always email eBay or contact them through the site - I've found them quite helpful and they do get back to you.

Good idea boxy, I'll have a look tomorrow, I can't face it tonight. And it might be quieter in the morning when the free listing rush is over. Thanks.
if you have the full paypal account ,I think it is called Premier, anyone can pay you by paypal and if there is not enough in their paypal account the extra cash will be transfered from thier debit card , credit card or bank to pay you. You don't have to do anything you just get the cash.
Precisely Eddie, which is why I never tick the "pay by credit card" option

Boxy I've got 5 people 'watching'. Is that good or rubbish?
Question Author
It's up to 12 now boxy but finishes tomorrow.
It's promising, ladybirder, as often people will bid at the last minute - the more that watch, the more likely that one will buy - however, it's not reliable. You can have lots of people watching several similar items while they decide which one to go for.

If it doesn't sell you can relist it, and if it sells the second time around, they refund the second listing fee.
