Selling on Ebay..?

Afternoon all, hope you're all having a lovely day so far.

Ok, I need some help from you Ebayers out there if I may please! lol.

Recently I returned to an old hobby of mine, making personalised, hand painted pictures on glass frames (and I'm loving it!), for special occasions ie 21st birthday, New Baby, Good Luck etc etc..

A few have gone to friends and family as gifts, who have all been delighted with them, and suggested I try selling them on Ebay, saying they'd do well beings they're personalised etc, and would make nice presents..?

Soo, I nervously/excitedly plucked up the courage the other night and set up an account on there and listed a handful of my paintings
(it took me HOURS! lol)

The only thing is, I don't seem to have had any 'views' yet!
So I'm wondering if maybe I'm doing something wrong, due to having No experience whatsoever with selling on there!
Orrr, are people ''wary of buying from a new seller with No/low feedback..?

I've listed them as a Buy it now (not auction) And they're up for 30 days, and as far as I know I've written a decent 'description' with each one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated please, as I feel a little bit disheartened and would really love to sell a few bits of my work!

Thank you :o)

That's what I'm wondering, Dotty..!
Maybe I'm Not being 'found'!?!
Dot's got a very good point there, loooby.
Question Author
Dotty, maybe try - Handmade.. personalised.. 21st...etc..?

I know they're the kind of details I've put in when I was looking to see what others were selling before I put my things up..

So, beings I hadn't got any views, I'm probably not coming up in any searches, am I...?! Oooh dear!

Let me know IF you find me! ... lol.. ;o/
you need to be in the right category, at the moment they are in home and garden-celebrations and occasions-other celebrations and occasions. personally i woulkd have put them under ceramics and glass category gifting
actually no i would put them under . craftds- hand crafted items
Question Author
Thank you Dotty, thanks for looking and the suggestion!

So, I Am I able to change the catagories, if I go into 'revise'..?
It costs a little more but you can put them under a few categories that are suitable so they should hopefully get more viewings, xx
I would revise each item and change the category, from Home and Garden to CRAFT - HAND PAINTED ITEMS. (as someone else has also advised). You will have to do this on each item. Good luck.
Question Author
I just tried to change the catagories, to Craft and Hand crafted items on my first item, but noticed my fees went from being £1.60 (40p each) to £5.55!! .. so I didn't carry on.
Why was that, do you think?

So, when I suss out how to swap the catagories Without the extra fee charges, when someone searches for 21st or Congratulations etc, my items will come up, yes?

Thank you to Everyone who's contributing to my thread, I really do appreciate the help! xx
I think you haven't changed category, you have ADDED category. When I needed to change category, I had to unlist the items and then relist them.
I'm a regular seller on eBay and to be honest it's not unusual not to have had many vewers or watchers until MUCH nearer the end date. A lot of people only look to see what's ending in the next couple of days.
You don't have to unlist them and relist them to change the category.

To revise your listing:
1.
Go to the All Selling section of My eBay.

2.
Find the listing you want to change and select Revise from the Actions drop-down menu.

3.
On the Edit your listing page, make your changes. (Any grey sections can't be revised.)

4.
Click Continue.

5.
Review your fee information and then click Submit revisions.

The reason your fees are quite high, is because you have advertised your goods as buy it now, (rather than selling by auction) and the higher the price of your goods, the higher the fee.
Looby they are lovely, if you don't get any 'watchers' near the end date, or any bids, you could always lower your prices slightly and that will give you an idea of what people want to pay, although I think for a hand painted item the price is perfect. The description is very good, typing colourful and centred with plenty of friendly information. Buy it Now is more expensive than auction, and most weekends ebay have 'free listing' for auction items (not Buy it Now) so that would save you a bit of money. They usually email when free listings are coming up. Good luck !
you have listed them as 'pics' - perhaps try 'pictures' as pics is not a real word so the search engine might not associate with the word 'pictures'
also, perhaps people want something they can add a photo to as well ?

so perhaps, if your designs allow, draw a small blank square where they can put a small photo behind the glass, such as an elephant reading a book - and the cover is blank for a pic, or a bear holding up a frame or something?
Question Author
Thanks Smurf, thanks for the feedback and your your kind words, I'm pleased you like them! xx :o)

Thank you horseshoes - fingers crossed then eh.

And Thank you too to Katdarn79 earlier, for your reply. I've only just seen it :o)

Thank you Winner! Thanks for listing the instructions for me, that's very good of you xx

Woofgang, that's what I 'Thought' I was doing! - 'Changing' the catagory, not adding to it...? But I'm obviously not doing it right! lol..

'm going to have to try Again.. !

Thanks all! :o) xx
Question Author
Ah, that's a Good point Joko, about the 'pics' wording.. yes, I will change that when I go back into 'revise'

Nice idea about the photo thing, and I might concider doing that later on IF it takes off, but for now I'll stick with what I'm doing at the mo. Nice suggestion though!

Gawdd! What a palarva! lol ... my 30 days will be up Before I get it sorted! lol

I'm SO glad I asked for help on here now, you've ALL been great xx :o)
Question Author
Grrrrrrr!
Help!
Where's the headache pills?!... lol

I Still can't Change the catagory without extra fees appearing!

Ok, this is Exactly what I'm doing :-

I Go into My Ebay

I Click on Selling

I Click on a listed item

I Click on Revise your item

(In Catagorise where your listing will appear)
I Click on Change Catagory (under Home & Garden > Celebrations & Occasions etc)

I select Crafts> and in the adjoining box I select Hand-Crafted Items

A box then comes up with - You've selected a category. Click Continue

I click Continue

I scroll down, and Your fees so far £5.55, comes up!!

(I'm not selecting a 2nd catagory)

what am I doing wrong?! xx
Perhaps the best thing to do, is leave your sales in homes and garden for now.
When you list up your next item for sale, put it in Crafts, hand painted items.
Instead of paying for an extra photo in each listing, use ebays link for your customers to check out your other items for sale. You will learn these tricks as you go along.
