Plusnet are owned by BT but operate as a separate business. I have been assured that their call centre is in England and have never on the many occasions I have spoken to them got through to an Indian callcentre. Since 2010 all their call centre operations have been in Sheffield. I changed to them in 2011.

Though owned by BT, plusnet operate independenlty. Excellent UK customer service. Broadband and telephone - excellent as well. After years of virgin media (too big and less friendly, too long on hold) im glad to have made the switch. On my last call to them they even told me how i could reduce my bill and they placed me on a more suitable tarriff, no penalty, no change to contract t and c etc. .
As I understand matters, whatever ISP you have, BT landlines will be involved. I am with BT for my telephone and broadband and have no cause for complaint. £25. per month for everything. All telephone calls(One hr duration each) free of charge and 10GB of broadband per month.
A neighbour of mine I think is with Talk-Talk and, when he has a problem, he becomes involved with each company blaming the other for a loss of service.
I take the view that it is better to have a single provider for both Telephone and Broadband. But I am an oldie and have been with BT from the days it was 'Post Office Telephones'.
