dishwasher powder compartment

having a wee bit of bovver at the mo with the above. sometimes it gets to the end of the cycle and the powder is still there.

Is the compartment opened by pressure of water, cos we are having probs with water supply at the mo and the mains are being replaced along our road and the water pressure is all over the place? or is is simply kaput?

Not sure how it's opened. I hear it click in after the rinse cycle so presume it's programmed to do that.

I don't use mine. I throw a tablet straight into the machine because of how often the compartment doesn't open and I'm left with a partly dissolved. tablet.

It's happened on all the dishwashers I've had.

On my Indesit the powder goes into the middle chamber and the water dissolves the powder right at the beginning of the programme. Why don't you pull out the compartment a small amount when it starts and then you can see if the water is going in and dissolving the powder. Silly question but are you putting the powder into the right compartment mine has three and it's easy to forget which one you should use. Finally call up the maker and ask them - they should be able to advise you as they have probably encountered all problems many times before.

Its easy to check whther the compartment holding the tablet opens as it should. Just Hold the door open and twist the knob. At a certain stage of the cycle the flap will open.

Just chuck it in anywhere. it really doesn't make any difference.

I just throw the tablet in the bottom of the dishwasher. My manual actually tells me to do this when washing at the lowest temperature. I don't know why.
