Not saying it is perfect every time but you should get a full medical history from your GP records.

The GP records would incliude a brief synopsis of hospital attendances. It depends what you are after really.

i asked the same question a few weeks back not on here,i was told yes from birth.

my surgery wants a £50 fee for it and it takes a while.

a few years ago i was in a&e after standing on a nail, the nurse asked if i had was up to date with tetanus jabs which i didn't know they rang my doctors who said the last time i had had one was when i was three,so i presume it goes way back.

Ideal ronnie! Thanks...,

Definately want to see mine. If i remember correctly itsva 6 or 8 week wait?

Id love to see what happened early in my life. Some things are sketchy. I attended the hospital till i was 7 and thats always "played down" aswell..... So id like to see for myself xx

Oh!?

The hospital i was born in is now closed!!!

How will that work? X
Tinks, this is a very difficult question. If you lived in the same place then yes, it would be. I have lived in Scotland for eighteen years, so if I requested notes from my GP surgery or the local hospital, then could I really expect more? It would be difficult, but not impossible, to trace my notes from Belfast, the UAE or Saudi, but it would cost.

Had the same GP since birth- that will be easy!

However im wondering about my baby records from my hospital stay. They interest me VERY much but the hospital shut in the 90s??

Hmmm. Any ideas how id acess them? X
Hospital stays and results, consultant conclusions etc are all forwarded to the GP.
When you change GPs these records go with you.

I was a Hospital Director for many years and Medical Records was one of my main remits. Most medical notes were put onto microfiche in the late eighties/ early nineties and should have been transferred to the relevant hospital authority when your local one closed. Failing that, the hard copies should have been preserved and moved on, but be warned, they are probably in some dark dusty recess if you haven't attended for a long time.

Thanks!!

Ill start with the GP.

Im interested in if they ever worked out why i was premature. (i was a concealed pregnancy). Sometimes i think theres something iffy about it all. I could be wrong!!!!!!

I had a heart murmur which apparently i was no lonher needing treatment for after age 7- again id just like to read for myself.

I guess i dont always trust what ive been told and fancy a read!!!

Glad to hear it. Good luck Tinks.

So my GP notes would most likely say that i was a conceales pregnancy though?

Or would that be in my mums notes? She didnt attend any prenatal appointments etc for me- would that be indicated in my notes?

God it sounds awful im just really curious x
No idea what they would say Tinks, but it should reflect what happened as your mother gave birth as that is pertinent to you too.

i don't know what a conseales pregnancy is but it would be in your mum's notes. which you don't have access to
Agree with bednobs.

Concealed preg is basically mum never told anyone she was preg and didnt attend any prenatal apptments.

That will be in her notes yes but im wondering at the beginning of my notes if it would mention anything that i wasnt monitored through the pregnancy or something. Ill soon find out x

Ive been sent the necessary forms to apply :0)
I worked for the NHS for many years. All our 'old' medical records (paper) were stored in the old (i.e. currently unused) mortuary. They are all there, but good luck to find a particular one!
