if you work an 8hour day it is one hour
Eh???

If you work an 8 hour day 0.8 of a day is 6.4 hours.
No if you work an 8 hour day it would be 6.4 hours or 6h:24m.
Multiply the number of hours you work (net of lunch break) by 0.8.
Or multiply by 8 and then divide by 10

Although, I assume you get 16.8 days a year because you are part time and your holiday is calculated on a pro-rata basis?

If so it'd be surprised if any company would expect you to come in for about 1.5 hours and then take the rest of the day as a holiday, most would just give you a whole day I'm sure... but if not I'd ask if I can take a whole day and make the extra 1.5ish hours up another time.
I suggest you make yourself familair wiht this as well

it's unusual for it to be days and not weeks pro rata, but maybe this is the holiday remainder for the remaining holiday period
.8 of a day is 8/10th of a day.

So however many hours you work a day it is 8/10th of that.

So if you worked 10 hours a day it would be 8 hours.
I seriously hope you can work that one out......
Well ....I'm still a bit confused but taking into account all answers, I think I'll just say that I have 17 days holiday!
I work 3 days a week.
Thanks all.

Cooooo 2 Le Chat....is that double time?? :-)
So your holiday is pro-rata..

If you work 5 days a week you are legally entitled to 28 days holiday.

you work 3 days a week, so you work 60% of a 5 day week.

60% of 28 is 16.8days.

Then it comes down to how many hours a day you work. all answers above were based on you doing an 8 hour day. where your 0.8 of a day would be 6hours 24 minutes, which would, strictly speaking, mean you'd have to go into work for 1 hour 36minutes and then could take the rest of the day off as holiday.

Although, as I said earlier, if your employer was going to enforce the 0.8 of a day and not just make it up to a full day I personally would try and arrange with them to work an extra 1hour 36minutes on another day so you could have 17 days holiday in total.
