My computer is scanning and will be doing so for the next few hours.

Consequently, I have to click on latest threads at least three times before it works and my answers keep getting error messages!

Shall l I just give up and wait until it's finished scanning?

Yes.
Life without Tilly?

NO!
A virus/spyware scan? Can you can stop it and set it to run at a later time?
I feel your pain Tilly lol.
I feel your pain, Tilly
I'm no expert, Tilly2, but I have found that, once a computer has started to do something, it's best to let it get on with whatever it's doing. A computer can be a moody thing when it isn't scanning, so don't upset it.

It's the MSE full scan which I have set for Wednesday evening. Do I need to do a full scan every week?
Well I guess you could change your scan settings so it only scans when you're not using the computer, or upgrade the computer to one that's capable of running a scan and being used at the same time.

Although I suspect this is posted more as a chatterbank post and not a technical post.

P. S. My computer now has an echo!
If it's MSE then set the scan to only use about 25% of the CPU.
It took me about12 hours, so now I opt for a quick scan

No, chuck. This is not a chatterbank question, although it may turn into one.

I genuinely want to know if I need to do a full scan every week. It won't scan if it's turned off will it?
I'd suggest a quickie too. I only do a full scan at a convenient time
Oooh Factor, a quickie?
Personaly... I don't have a full scan enabled, do a quick scan once a week and leave the "on access" scan enabled and you should be fine.
Ooh factor, a quickie!
I sympathise. I'm running scans (taking all day) because my PC is suddenly responding as if it's in treacle or something. There ought to be an app that can monitor and inform you what resource is being used up or what app is causing issues or what hardware is failing or whatever :-(
No thanks, shoota- I've had a better offer.
:-) I think I won that shoota sorry Tilly
I have MSE and the full scan is set for 3am every Sunday morning. You can set it to anytime 24/7.
