Quite often I find that fellow ABers post messages of love/sympathy/condolence/congratulations...etc...etc... and are signed off from 'All of us on AB'. As I am quite reticent in my emotional giving and find these posts really rather irritating.

On the whole I have a considerable dislike for sweeping statements and this is one of my greatest bug bears in terms of generalisations. All the while I appreciate the sentiment that others wish to share I don't like being swept along with it. I shudder when I see these posts, I have no issue with the personal messages of goodwill but absolutely cringe when I see these 'from all of us' comments.

Sorry to be grumpy but having seen a similar post earlier I realised I wasn't alone!

ah - can't say I've seen that, eccles - I usually post "from us" meaning me and nibble...
I agree, if I wanted to send my wishes to them I would do it myself.
I haven't noticed it either but I think I would find that irritating.
I think all of us on AB find it irritating ;)
I admit when I type it, it's from the Alba household after I've mentioned it to them.
Eccles I know what you mean, they are not as often as they used to be, there used to be one user in particular who did it every time there was some bad news.

LOL @ Barmaid.

Boxtops & Alba, with that in mind I will view the posts differently. However, I have seen posts that are from 'all on AB' and they do grate on me........
Quite a few things grate me.
I don't mind the 'from most of us on AB who wish you well/congratulations/condolences'

But if it's someone I've never engaged with, then I feel a tad miffed to be included, especially if it's someone who has grated on me (sounds churlish I know)
I'd go so far as to say that these kind of messages are almost daily occurrences and so lose their impact anyway IMO. I would never be so presumptious as to include myself as 'us' on here.
Years ago I used to be on an MSN group who, if ever you told them of a problem, used to say they would pray for you! That used to drive me nuts as i'm an agnostic.
if barmaid doesn't get best post, it's a travesty!
