i ordered a pair of jeans from the "jack and jones" website. I wanted them delivered to my parent's house in portsmouth, but whenever i out their correct address in, it came up "cannot deliver to that address" I eventually put my address in berkshire, and it accepted it. They live in a terraced street of victorian houses, have always had the same postcode etc, the address was correct. What reason could there have been for not being able to deliver there?

I've encountered a couple of web sites that will only deliver to the card holders address, perhaps "jack and jones" is also like that.

nah, don't think so - the address had to be put in before the card details
Not that then.
>>>the address had to be put in before the card details

But at the point of putting in the delivery address it did not know the cardholders details and address.

Once it realised the addresses were different it wont deliver them.

After all if you lost your bank card and someone found it and used it to order loads of stuff online, but wanted it delievered to an address in say Newcastle you would not be very happy would you.
All the well-known delivery companies allow you to specify a different address for delivery. For years our daughter in North Carolina has been ordering things from Amazon (for example) to be delivered to us.

Fraudsters would need more than your card.
Some retailers will not deliver to anywhere other than your own address.
I prefer to pay with Paypal, that way you can still have it send to another address but it is you who allows it.

it's nothing to do with that - i put in the address and before moving on to the card details screen, it rejected the address as not able to deliver to
Maybe they don't have a franchisee in that area.
I'd take it up with Jack and Jones through their website - they may not know that customers are encountering this obstacle.

do you mean UPS mo jo or j&j?
Question Author
well i could boxy but i will never need to use the shop again - the jeans were overpriced and for young people, and i was getting them as a favour to someone who lives in america (where they don't deliver)

Yes, but in Scotland the PA postcode comes up as Argyll and Islands or something and many companies won't deliver or charge extra - even though it's mainly Paisley which is just next to Glasgow really and therefore very central. It's caused by the fact that Dunoon and the Cowal peninsula come under the PA code but are reached by ferry. Companies don't differentiate and just lump everything under that code as 'island'(even though it's a peninsula), so if the Isle of Wight comes under the same code as Portsmouth then there could be a similar problem.
