Gas Oven Hissing Loudly And Flames At Odd Angles.....is This Incurable?
6 Answers
I'd appreciate any advice on my gas cooker. The bottom oven has of late started to be very noisy when lit - loud hissing, almost roaring - and the whereas flames come out of the top of the long oblong thingy with little holes in, on one side flames are coming out sideways from beneath the rime of the thingy with holes in.
To a simpleton like me this all suggests the thingy has a hole in the wrong place and air is getting in.
Is this diagnosis reasonable - and is the situation fixable?
Thanks in advance.

I've just been down there and this is a single sealed unit a bit like a tiny oblong garden planter, if that makes sense. The top is of one piece with the sides and woe is me, using torch, a mirror and a bamboo skewer I have located a hole in the welded seam just below the 'lip' at the back.
Does this spell the end? I've only had it 17 years.
