Hi,
We have got a electric cement mixer, minus the plug and lead. We have tried a caravan type plug but the inlet on the mixer is smaller and has a slit down the side, whereas the caraven plug has a different configueration. we have trawled ebay but cannot find anything, does anyone have any ideas?. we were going to disconnect the plug and wire a cable directly into the motor and fix the cable with straps so it cannot get pulled out, but don't know if that would be legal.
Thank you.

It's much safer to be able to disconnect a plug right by the machine - rather than having a long cable attached.

Why not buy a socket that fits your 'caravan plug' and attach that to the mixer motor with a short piece of lead?
Are you 100% sure that the mixer is 240volts - some trade versions may well be 110volts which will need a transformer?
Sounds like a 110V mixer to me, in which case, as Dave said, you'll need to connect it via a 110V transformer.
Is this the thing you seek? - 3 pins in a triangular formation?

Hi,
thanks for the replies. It is def a 240v mixer, and we tried one of those plastic type plugs but they are different. I don't knoe the make, as it is all cemented over.

Thanks.
Anything like this?

If not it may be worth a phone call to them.

HDodger,
Yes it looks like it might fit, it has the elevated bit that looks like it will slide into the slit on the mixer fitting. Thank you.
I would guess that the mixer power has to go through a safety isolating transformer to suit the amperage, hence the unusual plug. Even if you do manage to find a plug, please make sure you use a residual voltage surge arrester at the power socket to protect your life.
