Hello.

I have salvaged an old bison chair lift for the drive motor and rail assembly.

The motor is a permanent dc motor. type 90ZY001. I would like to adjust the
speed with a potentiometer, if this is possible and also to be able to reverse it,again i do not know if this is possible. Lastly I do not know what voltage it is so I can check that it functions ok. The motor is attached to what looks like a double reduction gear box. any help would be gratefully received.

Thank you

Speed control can be achieved with a potentiometer however this not very energy efficient.A better method would be to introduce a pulse wave modulator.
The reverse motion will require a dedicated control or the pole change of either the field or commutator windings. Is it a brush type or brushless.
