Hi I'm doing a painting and I want a petrol blue colour....I have mixed and mixed and just can't seem to get it quite right....any great artists out there with tips, thanks in advance

You could try adding black and a bit of green to a basic blue(navy) base.
petrol isnt blue
I think a navy base would be too dark, a mid blue might be a better starting point, I agree about the black and green.
