How do I tune it in? I thought it might do it automatically. It just says no signal, so does that point to a problem with the external ariel?

That's the first thing that I would check. Check the connections, plug the ariel directly into the TV (bypassing any other boxes you may have) and see if you get a signal.

If you have a roof mounted aerial plug it into that just to see if that works.

Are you trying to tune in Analogue by any chance? There is no analogue signal any more.
It must have a DVB tuner built in otherwise you will need a set top box.

I was posting on behalf of my daughter. When I got round there the cable from the wall to the TV looked like it had been bitten by rats or something, no way was it functioning. Thanks for the help
